Quality Care Solutions, Inc. is in need of a full-time Certified Peer Support Specialist that will be able to work/travel to Durham and Wake Counties.
About the position
The Peer Support Specialist provides individualized, recovery-focused support to persons that promotes the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping and self-advocacy skills, and the development of independent living skills for housing, employment and full community inclusion. This is a community based service.
Responsibilities but the below is not inclusive:
- Provide a variety of services and supports to emphasize personal safety, self-worth, connection to the community, and personal fulfillment.
- Teach symptom management and whole health skills and techniques to individuals on an individual, group, and family basis.
- Engage in various skill-building activities such as learning how to obtain and maintain stable housing, manage finances, increase employment readiness skills, interact with others in private and public settings, maintain healthy non-violent relationships, engage in safe, non-medical ways to control modifiable risk factors that impact his or her health (e.g. smoking, drug and alcohol use, obesity, etc.) and learn skills to increase motivation and actively address health conditions
- Maintain a caseload and ensure timely visits to clients.
- Coordinate face-to-face contacts with clients.
- Document all Peer Support Specialist activities, contacts and sessions.
- Assist clients with self-determination and decision making.
- Provide linkage to community resources.
- Model recovery values, attitudes, beliefs and personal action to encourage wellness.
- Provide and/or arrange for transportation for people receiving support as required.
- Communicate needs and progress of the person supported to supervisor and/or Treatment Team/other professionals as requested.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
- Follow service definition guidelines for services being provided.
- Complete all other relevant responsibilities.
Requirements
1. High school diploma or GED required
2. 1-2 years of experience working with the mental health/substance use population.
3. NC Certified Peer Support Specialist certification required.
4. General knowledge of recovery methods and person-centered thinking
5. Strong customer service skills and ability to build trust with clients and/or their guardians.
6. Well established in your own recovery
Skills:

Job Type: Full -time
Pay: $16-$18 per hour,
