CPSSs are responsible for renewing their certification every two years from their initial certification date to avoid a lapse in certification.

Please note: Your certificate expiration date is the official deadline for completing your certification renewal. If renewal is not completed by the expiration date listed on your certificate, your certification will be considered lapsed.

If you complete your renewal after the expiration date, you may submit a late recertification application within 30 days of the expiration date and will be required to pay the additional $20 late recertification fee.

Employers using this verification tool are encouraged to request a copy of the individual's current certificate to confirm certification status.

To verify an individual's status as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist, enter the person's full or partial first and/or last name in the search fields below. Searching by a partial name may return multiple results for review. Search results will display the individual's name, initial certification date, most recent recertification date, and the Renew by date.

Search Instructions: Enter a first and last name below. If you are unsure of the spelling, you may enter a partial name; however, this may produce multiple pages of results for review.

Certificates will be received within 10–14 business days following certification or recertification approval.
