North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification Required-work involves working with individuals with Mental Health and Substance Use disorders.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals facing mental health challenges and addiction issues. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will utilize your lived experience to foster hope, promote recovery, and empower clients in their journey towards wellness. Your unique perspective will help bridge the gap between clients and services, ensuring they receive the support they need.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals dealing with mental health and addiction challenges.
  • Facilitate crisis management and intervention strategies to assist clients in high-stress situations.
  • Mentor clients by sharing personal experiences and recovery strategies that promote resilience.
  • Conduct motivational interviewing sessions to encourage clients in setting and achieving personal goals.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop individualized recovery plans tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Assist clients in navigating behavioral health systems and accessing necessary resources.
  • Offer education on coping skills, self-advocacy, and community resources available for ongoing support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.

Experience

  • Certification as a North Carolina Peer Specialist is required.
  • Experience in crisis management and crisis intervention techniques is essential.
  • Background in mentoring or providing support within mental health counseling or addiction counseling settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health systems and social work principles is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects individual differences and promotes recovery-oriented practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
