Position Summary:
We are seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) with 1.5 years post experience to provide person-centered, recovery-focused support services to adults with mental health and/or substance use challenges. The CPSS will utilize their lived experience to inspire hope, promote self-advocacy, and assist individuals in achieving their personal recovery goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer individualized peer support to clients, fostering empowerment and resilience.
- Facilitate recovery-oriented group sessions, including Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) workshops.
- Assist clients in developing self-help strategies, coping skills, and social connections.
- Support clients in accessing community resources related to housing, employment, education, and healthcare.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate peer support into comprehensive care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, adhering to confidentiality and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) certification.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year in personal recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience facilitating peer support groups or recovery workshops.
- Familiarity with local community resources and support networks.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
