RHA Health Services Deaf & Hard of Hearing program provides a unique tailored certified training program that specializes specifically in training Deaf and Deaf-Blind persons to become Certified Peer Support Specialists. This training is innovative and is the leading Certification Training program for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing in North Carolina and surrounding states. This training was designed to meet the needs of a disadvantage population suffering from substance use disorders and mental illness.
This Certification Training Program is designed to empower, equip, and give hope in the lives of those we serve. This two week (80 hour) training program is designed to meet of a diverse class with varying communication needs; sign language interpreters, CART services, and Deaf-Blind interpreting & Haptics services. The classroom environment is safe, supportive, and fun. All instructors are approved by the State of NC as Certified Peer Support Specialists, completed instructor training through RHA Train the Trainor Program and are fluent in American Sign Language.
