About your Role:
The Peer Support Specialist (PPS), under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Regional Director, is responsible for providing opportunities for individuals receiving services to direct their own mental health process. The PPS is also responsible for facilitating the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth.

About your Role:
Helping You Heal is seeking a full time peer support specialist to serve as a team member for a small caseload. The PSS will be a contributing member of the team in meetings and support for other staff. The PSS will coordinate care for clients and support their goals. The PSS will also have to perform affiliated paperwork in a timely manner. The PSS will be expected to be on call in a rotation and also perform 75% of visits in the home or community of the clients. The Forsyth County Department of Emergency Services is seeking to hire a Peer Support Specialist. In the role of a peer support professional with the mobile integrated healthcare division of Forsyth County Emergency medical services you will get the opportunity to connect with clients who are experiencing crisis that involve both behavioral health and substance abuse issues. You will work as a connector for these clients and help advocate for them to receive services and supports that specifically address any unmet needs they may have.
Purpose:
This is a peer community based support role for those desiring support as they seek a life free from drug or alcohol dependence OR if they are not ready to cease using these but want a safe and positive space to connect with support and health resources. The Nexus program is a component of GreenTree Peer Support Program in Winston-Salem. Role objectives include:
To provide genuine, non-judgmental welcome to all comers in a safe, trauma-sensitive social setting
• Meeting with clients to provide advice and support in accordance with treatment plan • Supporting/assisting consumers in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems
• Assisting clients by finding resources, advising the consumer of processes, and encouraging follow through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or provide other assistance as needed
